PAUL COEHLO THE FAMOUS AUTHOR of the 1988 book, Alchemist, more recently twittered this advice, “Offering a smile is the way to solve many problems,” [and] “Silence is the way to avoid many problems.”
Coelho reminds us that the power of words can cut both ways and knowing when to keep quiet and offer a kind smile is just as valuable.
If I had practiced this, it might have saved me some headaches in my life.
When I choose silence, my associates think I’m upset. It must be something to do with the look on my face. If I could learn to smile and keep silent, I might discover a new and worthwhile approach to my being.
My comments are often an accelerant to conflict. Gosh, that should be simple to change.
Here’s to tight lips and a smile. I just tried it in the mirror - it can’t be done.
I’m not too sure that this would work for me, anyway.
